The Great Greek Debuts First Central Florida Location
Authentic Restaurant Brings Modern, Mediterranean Food and Lifestyle to Winter Garden

WINTER GARDEN, Fla. – The Great Greek Mediterranean Grill, a leading Mediterranean fast-casual restaurant known for its authentic family recipes, opened its first Central Florida location in Winter Garden in October. The new restaurant, located at 16045 New Independence Pkwy., Ste. 100, features traditional Mediterranean-style favorites with fresh, high quality ingredients and bold flavors.
The Great Greek in Winter Garden is operated by local entrepreneur Richard Hawkins. Having experience in the food industry since he was in high school. From bussing tables to being a chef and managing restaurants, Hawkins has experience at every position in the restaurant industry. He was introduced to The Great Greek Mediterranean Grill when he was looking for a new brand to work with. Immediately, Hawkins loved the fresh and authentic taste The Great Greek had to offer. This is the first Central Florida location, with plans to expand in the future.
The award-winning menu at The Great Greek in Winter Garden will feature authentic recipes and legendary flavors like the fan-favorite hummus, which can be ordered alongside three signature house-made dips or mouth-watering Gyros and Fresh Feta Fries. Guests can also indulge in the must-have desserts like Baklava ice cream or Rice Pudding. The Great Greek offers a wide variety of customizable options for customers to enjoy, including a classic Greek Salad or Gyro or Souvlaki skewers. Everything is prepared in-house with bold, fresh ingredients that bring traditional flavors from recipes passed down generation after generation.

“We are excited to introduce the Winter Garden area to the fresh, authentic taste of The Great Greek Mediterranean Grill,” said Hawkins. “Working in the food industry for so long, my motto has always been ‘fresh is better,’ which is why I loved The Great Greek. The menu is simple and authentic and allows us to provide fresh, delicious food to our guests every time.”
The Great Greek Mediterranean Grill was co-founded in 2011 by two third-generation restaurateurs with more than 30 years of experience in the food and hospitality business, Nick A. Della Penna and Trent Jones who purchased the Great Greek’s first location in Henderson, Nevada. After successfully opening two additional Las Vegas locations, Della Penna and Jones started franchising the concept with United Franchise Group last year and saw immediate success. United Franchise Group is comprised of nine affiliated companies and brands with more than 1600 franchisees in more than 80 countries. With ten locations currently across the United States, The Great Greek’s location in Winter Garden marks the eleventh. Additionally, there are more than 70 locations in various stages of development.
