New joke books help families pay for child medical expenses

Joke books written by kids for kids encourage early reading among children; proceeds from the joke books fund medical grants for children

Kids across Florida and the United States have helped produce a series of joke books that will bring laughter and enjoyment to both kids and adults, and more importantly raise funds to help families pay for children’s medical expenses not covered, or not fully covered, by a commercial health insurance plan.

Designed to appeal to all ages and bring laughter and enjoyment to kids and adults, the three books – Cool Jokes for Summer; Sweets, Treats & Eats; and Holidays, Celebrations & Birthday Jokes – each include more than 300 hilarious jokes. Many of these will bring back fond childhood memories, and best of all, the book sales will fund UnitedHealthcare Children’s Foundation child medical grants for families in Florida and across the country.

The books are ideal for children ages 4 to 12, but can be enjoyed by people of all ages.

Books are available on Amazon for $5.99 each, and all of the jokes were submitted by kids to help other kids in need.

“We’re all familiar with the wise adage that laughter is the best medicine, and so is the comfort in knowing that your child’s medical condition is being treated and paid for,” said Matt Peterson, president of UnitedHealthcare Children’s Foundation. “These kid-inspired joke books will bring many laughs and will help many families struggling with medical costs.”

In 2014, UHCCF released its first joke book, Little Book-Big Laughs. The foundation released two more joke books the following year. In addition to joke books, UHCCF publishes and sells the award-winning Oliver & Hope™ storybooks, also available at Amazon. Proceeds from all UHCCF books fund UHCCF child medical grants for families across the United States.
