OCPA Students Attend Tesla League Championship

OCPA Robo-Knights Awarded 2 Medals

Recently, several students from Orange County Preparatory Academy participated in the “Tesla League Championship” representing the Robo-Knights FIRST Technology Challenge Team 9930. OCPA students & the team won 2 awards. The two awards that our Robo-Knights received at the League Championship were:

  • Finalist Alliance – Our team successfully made it to the League Finals Competition.
  • Control Award – Our teams successfully identified the key control elements that makes our Robot unique, provided a description of key observable actions for judges to look for, and also identified the sensor and algorithm used that made it all possible.

Our Robo-Knights were also in 2nd place for both the Connect Award and the Design Award. The Connect Award is given to the team that connects most with their local science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) community. The Design award is presented to teams that incorporate industrial design elements into their solution. These design elements could simplify the robot’s appearance by giving it a clean look, be decorative in nature or otherwise express the creativity of the team.

Congratulations to Manning H., our Team Captain who was nominated for the Dean’s List Award. The nominated students are candidates that have led their teams and communities to increased awareness for FIRST and its mission. These students have also achieved personal technical expertise and accomplishment. It is the intention of FIRST that these individuals will continue on, post-award as great leaders, student alumni, and advocates of FIRST.
