You will need three boxes:

Label one box as ‘Donate.’ A clipboard will come in handy when it’s time for you to jot down household items that you intend to put on the box. You have to keep an inventory of the items you will be donating to charity if you want the donation to be a deduction during tax time.

Label the second box as ‘Trash.’ The box will contain all the items that now belong to the local dump site. Be sure to check if the items can still be donated or not before you take the box to the garbage. Recyclable items can still be of use to other people, so leave the items that can be donated and put them in the first box.

The last box will be for the things you still want to use one way or another, but they seem to end up where they are not supposed to be. Once you’ve finished collecting items in one section of your home, empty the box by putting the things back to their proper places.

Once the clutter is taken care of, the remaining tasks on your spring cleaning checklist will go along pretty quickly.

#2 - Dusting

Dust your furniture. When you remove collectibles and knick knacks to put into a box, dust them off. As soon as the tasks in your spring cleaning checklist are complete, then it’s the time for you to replace such items.

#3 - Windows

It is mandatory to take down curtains when spring cleaning. You can either put them in your washing machine or take them to a laundromat or dry cleaner. Once the curtains are off, wipe down the window sills and blinds. In cleaning windows, you will need a cleaning solution that’s one part vinegar and one part hot water. This mixture of equal parts is sure to rid you of the grime that’s on your windows. Don’t forget to clean the screens as well.

#4 - Walls

Since the curtains are in the washer, now is a great time for you to clean your walls. Attach your broomstick to a damp rag and use it to pull down the cobwebs that are in the ceiling and in wall corners. The areas where there are fingerprints and dust must also be wiped down. This includes your switchplates and trim work. Also, you have to wipe off the dust that’s on your ceiling or wall-mounted lighting fixtures. If the light bulbs have burnt out, replace them.

#5 - Bedding and Rugs

Just like what you did with your curtains, throw bedding and rugs in the wash. If necessary, drop them off to your nearest dry cleaner.

#6 - Flooring

Different flooring surfaces require different care and attention, which means the cleaning method that you will use will depend on what’s recommended by your flooring’s manufacturer. For carpeted surfaces, you may want to use steam cleaners. Hardwood flooring surfaces will require a new coat of sealer or wax.

As soon as you complete everything on your spring cleaning checklist, you can rehang curtains, make the beds, and replace decorative accessories. The only thing that you need to do next is to enjoy the beautiful outdoors and the spring weather!
