Where to Look for an Online Tutor

An examination of three of the best online tutoring websites.

The shadiness is real in the online marketplace. Despite the fact that the worldwide web allows for greater opportunities to learn and prosper, there are many individuals that would take that honor and twist it for their own self-gain. Unfortunately, students have been a victim of this trickery, as fake tutors have extorted money out of students just looking to learn. But, as an online tutoring aficionado, I feel qualified to direct in places where you will get the most of your time and money. Here are some sites to visit if you’re looking for an online tutor:

  • Chegg

Chegg.com is what many would consider the preeminent online tutoring site. The tutors focus mostly on standardized test prep. You can get studying help on tests ranging from the SATs, ACTs, GMATs, LSATs, etc. If you sign up for the service, you will be provided a free studying e-book, based on what you signed up for, as well as access to a tutor of your choice. You will have access to live and recorded classes hosted by trained professionals. In the comments, there are professionals available to answer your personal questions. The study help provided is very good, but it runs a steep price. It’s over a hundred dollars, the actual price depending on what you sign up for and if you opt for the premium package. I would only go for Chegg if you’re really in the hole and need a lot of aid.

  • Transtutors

Transtutors.com is a unique tutoring platform because of what it provides. For one, there are scholarship opportunities on the site. You can earn up to $1,000 for your college tuition. But, the most unique thing about the site is how it structures the tutoring. When you sign-up, you’ll choose a subject that you want to learn. From there, a valued professional will tutor you based on a learning structure passed down for the higher ups of the site. The studying has three tiers and is very in depth. I’d recommend Transtutors if you only need help on one subject.

SolutionInn.com has the most diversity and intuitiveness of any of the sites mentioned in this article. It would talk me over a thousand words to detail all of the subjects provided by SolutionInn and their expert tutors. What separates SolutionInn from the rest is that it doesn’t box you into a certain program. If you need to learn multiple subjects, you can. It’s all based on what you need. The way the site works is you pay a flat rate of $13.95. From there, you pay the tutor you select based on what you and your tutor decide. For my money, this is the site I would choose. The amount of choice and freedom available on the site trounces the other, but it doesn’t lose efficiency in the diversity.

No matter what you choose from this list, you’ll end up with a great tutor. But, don’t take my word for it: do your own research. Go on these sites and decide what works for you. Go to other sites, just make sure you aren’t sacrificing your money for a scam.
