5 'Emaciated' Horses Rescued by SPCA

The horses were found by the South Florida SPCA in the Florida Everglades.

LIGHTHOUSE POINT, FL — The South Florida SPCA rescued five "emaciated" horses on Thursday. The organization posted photographs of the horses on its Facebook Account. They are now under the career of volunteers.

The SPCA said that the horses were found at mile marker 8.5. The malnourished animals include a thoroughbred gelding, paint mare, young filly, and a buckskin mare with very young foal.

"The mare is in the worst shape of them all," SPCA officials posted. "Will need critical care."
