Today's riddle: What has 2 arms and a neck but no head? 🤔 (Answer below!)
• 3 TV stations invited María Elvira Salazar to debate Eliott Rodriguez. Only Rodriguez said yes (floridapolitics.com) — Palmetto Bay voters are in the spotlight as TV stations try to host debates in the hotly contested race for Florida's 27th Congressional District, which includes the village. Democratic nominee Eliott Rodriguez has accepted three proposed televised debates, while incumbent Rep. María Elvira Salazar has so far declined, continuing her pattern of avoiding general‑election debates even as forecasters say the district is becoming more competitive.
• South Florida officials compare Amendment 3 property tax cut proposal to payday loan scam (wlrn.org) — Palmetto Bay residents could see major impacts on police protection and other services if Florida's proposed Amendment 3 property tax cut passes, local leaders warn. Outgoing Mayor Karyn Cunningham says over 60% of village revenue comes from ad valorem taxes, with more than half of that funding law enforcement, helping keep crime among the lowest in Miami‑Dade. Officials across South Florida argue the amendment's promised tax relief may instead shift costs and raise fees.
