DUI Checkpoint Planned in Palmetto Bay

The family of a 2012 drunk-driving victim plans to be at the checkpoint.

PALMETTO BAY, FL — Miami-Dade police will be stopping cars on Friday night at a DUI checkpoint from 7:30 p.m. to 1 a.m.

The family of Kaely Camacho, who was killed by a drunk driver in 2012 will be present along with Mothers Against Drunk Driving (M.A.D.D.). at South Dixie Highway and East Guava Street, where the checkpoint will be set up.

The checkpoint will be operated by the Miami-Dade Police Department's Special Patrol Bureau Motorcycle Unit under a Florida Department of Transportation grant initiative.
