Free Mulch Courtesy Hurricane Irma

The free mulch giveaway runs from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday and Sunday and is available to residents and non residents alike.

PALMTETTO BAY, FL — If you've been wondering what happened to all those downed trees and branches after Hurricane Irma struck the Miami area, a lot of them are still here — just in another form. This weekend Palmetto Bay officials will be giving away truckloads of free mulch courtesy of Hurricane Irma. The giveaway runs from 8 a.m to noon on Saturday and Sunday at Coral Reef Park.

"Many of you took advantage of the free mulch giveaway held last weekend," said Palmetto Bay officials in announcing this weekend's giveaway. "We still have plenty to give it away for free."

Bring a truck or the village will provide bags of mulch to residents and non residents alike. Everyone will be asked to show identification and provide their name and address in accordance with FEMA requirements. Officials will also record how much mulch is picked up by each person.

"There are no quantity limitations and the village will provide the bags, as needed," officials added. "Also, please remember that this mulch came from landscape debris and other wood materials and that it is not treated in any way. The mulch pick up, its application and use is at your own risk."

Coral Reef Park is located at 7895 SW 152nd St.
