Hit-and-Run Driver Strikes 84-Year-Old Man

Police are asking for the public's help in finding the female driver of the vehicle that struck an elderly man in Southwest Miami-Dade.

NARANJA, FL — A hit-and-run driver struck an 84-year-old man early Wednesday morning as he was attempting to cross a street. The accident occurred shortly before 6 a.m. at the intersection of SW 268 Street and Tallahassee Road. Police are asking for the public's help in finding the woman who was driving the vehicle.

The victim was identified as Reynaldo Teseda of the 33600 block of SW 187 Avenue in Florida City. The suspect is described as an African-American woman, approximately 25 to 30 years of age, 5 feet 2 inches to 5 feet 4 inches tall, 200 pounds with brown eyes and long, black, curly hair.

Police said the driver's name may be Chelsey.

According to Detective Marjorie Eloi of the Miami-Dade Police Department, the accident happened after the driver left a gas station at 13690 SW 268 Street, to travel west on SW 268 Street.

"As the pedestrian crossed the intersection, he was struck," said Eloi. "The vehicle then fled northbound on SW 137 Avenue."

She added that the driver is a regular at the gas station.

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue transported the victim to Jackson South Hospital in stable condition.
