Improvements to SW 136th Street have continued to move steadily. The project involves the construction of a shared-use pathway from US 1 east to Old Cutler Road on the Palmetto Bay side (south) of SW 136 Street. Β Other project activities include road milling and resurfacing, ADA ramps, and landscaping. Aside from the roadway improvements, the county is also working to replace the existing bridge on SW 136 Street over the C-100 canal.Β According to the county, the design of the 136th Street Bridge Replacement project has been completed for a few months. However, the project is on hold awaiting the relocation of electrical lines by FPL and pending a permit from the South Florida Water Management District (SFWMD). The FPL line relocation requires a regulatory permit and this has had a significant impact on the construction schedule. The shared-use path project is on-going, but the final roadway resurfacing may need to be postponed due to the bridge project delays. The county expects the bridge project to be back on track in the next few months. We will continue to keep our residents appraised of any new developments concerning the projects.
