2 Women Hit by Car During Parrot Head Party

Both victims hospitalized. 2nd DUI arrest for suspect who was out on bond for felony DUI Manslaughter charge.

A Pasco County man accused of felony DUI manslaughter in a crash that killed his wife, is now charged with a second DUI after a crash the night of Palm Harbor's Parrot Head Party.

Authorities say about 9:30pm Saturday night, Philip William Billitteri, 59, of Trinity was driving west on Nebraska Ave toward Alt 19 when he hit two women.

The women were crossing Nebraska Ave near Billy Jack's Burger Shack, which is located in between Alt 19 and 11th St.

A relative of one of the victims says the pair was walking to a parking lot on Nebraska Ave when they were hit from behind. "They did not see it coming," said the relative, who did not want to be identified.

The impact of the crash sent one of the women flying onto the car's windshield, shattering it. The other woman landed face down on the road.

62 year-old Annette Kurtz was taken to Bayfront Medical Center where she was listed in fair condition as of Thursday afternoon.Β

64 year-old Mary Taylor was taken to Mease Countryside Hospital and was released Tuesday night.Β

The crash report says Billitteri was inattentive and careless and the officer listed his condition as under the influence. The report also says Billitteri refused to take an alcohol breath test. Authorities say he had the right to make that decision.

Officers arrested Billitteri for DUI Causing Serious Bodily Injury. He was booked into the Pinellas County jail just after 12am Sunday and was released from jail later that night after posting $5,000 bond.

A Palm Harbor Patch investigation found that Billitteri was arrested for DUI Manslaughter in September of 2010 for his alleged role in a deadly crash that killed his wife in April of the same year.

That crash report says around 7:15pm on April 30, 2010, Billitteri was driving on Trinity Blvd and made a left turn onto Tamarind Blvd in front of an approaching car. The impact of the crash ejected Billitteri's wife who was a passenger in the car. 66 year-old Sherry Billiterri died from her injuries. She was not wearing a seat belt.

The April 30, 2010 crash report also said that Billitteri told officers he had a couple of drinks before the crash. He was not arrested until September when tests came back from the lab showing his blood alcohol level was .194 which is more than twice Florida's legal limit of .08.

That case has not gone to trial. Palm Harbor Patch checked court documents Friday morning, and found that Billiterri was arraigned in a Pasco County court yesterday for the DUI Manslaughter charge. A motion to revoke his bond had also been filed.

Palm Harbor Patch called Billiterri and his attorney, but those phone calls have not been returned. As soon as we get new details, we'll pass them along to you.
