4th of July Warning: Many Fireworks Banned

Pinellas County Officials suggest residents attend public fireworks displays.

With the 4th of July holiday weekend coming up, Pinellas County Officials want to let everyone know that Pinellas County has a ban on certain fireworks. The county prohibits the retail sale or purchase of fireworks that project into the air or explode.

"The safest way to enjoy fireworks is to attend a public display conducted by trained professionals. It's also more fun, safer and doesn't cost a thing," according to Mary Burrell, Pinellas County Operations Manager.

Burrell says the only type of fireworks that are allowed in the county are sparklers, which can be dangerous and can reach temperatures up to 1,200 ΒΊF.
