6 PHUH Seniors Win Merit Scholarships

National Merit Scholarship Corp. announces 3rd round of scholarship winners.

Six more seniors at can now call themselves National Merit Scholars. The teens were named college-sponsored scholarship winners during the third round of announcements made by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation.

These students will receive $500 to $2,000 annually from the college that financed the award. The winners are-

Kathryn Cornnell, University of Florida

Lauren Bone, New College of Florida

Erica Jones, Auburn University

Neeta Ghanekar, University of South Florida

Scholarship finalists were judged based on their academic record, SAT scores, and an essay submitted with the application. The last round of scholarship winners will be announced in July.
