Extreme Makeover: Sanctuary Edition

Learn what a real extreme makeover takes when we go inside the Suncoast Primate Sanctuary!

Suncoast Primate Sanctuary volunteers recently got down and dirty giving me a habitat makeover! Volunteers surprised me with a buffet of banana daiquiris (alcohol-free of course) and fruit!

As I enjoyed the Florida sun and my special treats, Sanctuary volunteers took the time that I was distracted to renovate my enclosure with new toys and fire hoses. That’s right, fire hoses. A Sanctuary makeover trick is to use old fire hoses (donated by local fire departments) to provide primates with a rope course to climb and swing on!

In addition to the new fire hoses, I received a blue barrel. I guess they wanted a monkey in a barrel! Just kidding, the blue barrels are a great enrichment item. I like to use it as a high chair or a dancing partner. That’s right, the Sanctuary sent me to dance school – although it may not show in my techniques! Throughout the day when the Sanctuary plays music, I like to dance. My favorite artist is Phil Collins. Can you guess why? Comment below and the first person that can guess why correctly, I’ll send a free SPS Koozie with a special savings printed on it!
