Cat Recovers from Gunshot Wound, Ready to Find New Home

Palm Harbor Patch is proud to help the Suncoast Animal League find a new home for this great pet.

Meet Rubi!

This cutie is a two year-old tuxedo cat.  Rubi seems to do well with dogs, kids and other cats.

In January, Rubi was brought to Tarpon Animal Hospital after being shot by an unknown assailant. The gunshot wound shattered her right front leg and lodged in her shoulder. The veterinarians were unsure whether her leg could be saved but they did everything possible and used all of their skills to save the leg, and it worked. Although the bullet could not be removed, a pin was placed in her leg and a month later she was bearing weight on the leg.  She had a second surgery in May to remove the pin.

On June 7th, just over five months since she was shot, Rubi "walked" out of Tarpon Animal Hospital and is now at Suncoast Animal League awaiting her forever home. Over the past five months of limited activity, Rubi has put on a few pounds and developed a bit of a "Diva" type attitude or "catitude" as the case may be. She’s very cute and playful.

Thanks to the caring staff at Tarpon Animal Hospital, Rubi has survived a life threatening experience. She may have used up one of her nine lives, but she would like to spend the rest of her lives in a loving home with a loving family.
