Rain Fails to Sour Citrus Festival
Palm Harbor's annual bash offered lots of sun, a bit of rain, and plenty of fun for everyone.
The shows went on at last weekend's Palm Harbor Citrus Festival, despite mother nature's attempts to dampen the fun.
Dark clouds made an appearance over the festival early Saturday afternoon. Contestants in the Miss Palm Harbor Citrus Festival Queen Pageant wound up scrambling to avoid the raindrops, by huddling together underneath an umbrella. Erin Moore was crowned 2012 Miss Palm Harbor Citrus Festival Queen shortly before the downpour hit Old Historic Downtown Palm Harbor.
When the rain drenched the main stage, festival organizers improvised and held Battle of the Bands performances inside and moved the competition to Harbor Hall. Palm Harbor firefighter-paramedic, Scott Arntz and partner Candice Cunningham won the Dancing with the Palm Harbor Stars.

"It feels great. I felt more confident as the lessons went by. I had a great teacher," said Arntz. His win solidified dominance in the competition. A firefighter has won Dancing with the Palm Harbor Stars three out of four years.

After the sun dried up the rain, the Battle of the Band performances moved to the main stage and the Citrus Festival was back on schedule. Sunday's weather was much more cooperative.
