Detectives: Man Wearing Red Wig Robs Alderman Road Publix

Investigators are asking for help identifying a man who wore a red wig while robbing the Publix at Alderman Rd. and U.S. 19 on Saturday, Oct. 6.

Detectives say the man walked into the Publix at 35439 U.S. 19 around 9 p.m. and implied that he had a gun while demanding money from the store manager. After receiving the money, the man walked or ran out of the store. No one was injured during the robbery.

A Palm Harbor Patch reader says Pinellas County Sheriff's Office helicopters were scanning the area around 9:30 p.m.

Investigators say the suspect was wearing a red curly-haired wig under a black hat with the letters "TK." He also appeared to be wearing black makeup in an attempt to disguise his face, according to detectives.

The man, who detectives describe as white, was also wearing a long-sleeve black shirt and cargo pants.
