DUI Checkpoint on Tampa Rd. This Weekend
The monthly checkpoints are held by the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office in an effort to reduce DUI-related injuries.

The Pinellas County Sheriff's Office will be holding a sobriety checkpoint this weekend on Tampa Road, which is one of north Pinellas county's busiest roads. The monthly checkpoints are held in an effort to reduce DUI-related injuries, according to the sheriff's office.
Here's what you need to know about the checkpoint-
- Where: 3655 Tampa Road, Oldsmar (at Lockheed Martin)
- When:Β 10 p.m. Friday, Sept. 28 to 3 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 29
Pinellas County Sheriff's Deputies with the Patrol, K-9, Community Policing and Narcotics units will be on the lookout for alcohol and drugΒ impaired drivers. The Pinellas County Sheriff's Office Mobile Command Bus will be used for breath testing and the processing of arrested individuals. Deputies and officers will also be checking for driver license, registration, insurance, and equipment violations.

Members of the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office TrafficΒ Crash Investigations Unit, the Sheriff's Citizen Patrol and Explorer Post 900Β will assist with non-enforcement related tasks.Β
This Friday's checkpoint is dedicated to Virginia Cantlon, who wasΒ involved in a crash due to the actions of an impaired driver on November 6thΒ 2006. Cantlon died on November 28th 2006 as the result of injuries sustainedΒ during the crash, according to the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office which investigated the accident.
