East Lake Community Overlay Awaits State Approval

Pinellas County Commissioners unanimously approved a proposal creating a community overlay in the East Lake area of Palm Harbor.

East Lake could become the fourth Pinellas County community to be defined by an official community overlay.Β

Last month, Pinellas County Commissioners approved a proposal that created the community overlay. The state needs to approve the overlay. After that happens, it will be incorporated into the Pinellas County Comprehensive Plan.

According to the Council of North County Neighborhoods, the community overlay will define the East Lake Tarpon area as a cohesive community. The overlay will also be used as a guide for any proposed construction or development in the area, with the goal of maintaining the community's quality of life, low density, and residential character.
