Firefighters Continue Winning Dance Streak

Once again, a firefighter was on the winning dance team in the Dancing with the Palm Harbor Stars competition at this year's Citrus Festival.

An impressive streak of wins in the Dancing With the Palm Harbor Stars competitions might have people wondering if great dancing skills might also be a prerequisite for firefighters who apply to Palm Harbor Fire Rescue. After all, a firefighter has won the competition three out of four years!

But, a more realistic explanation might be the fact that firefighters have to be physically fit and fast on their feet while on the job, which also helps when it comes to dancing competitions.

Last weekend, Palm Harbor firefighter-paramedic, Scott Arntz and partner Candice Cunningham won the Dancing with the Palm Harbor Stars competition.

"It feels great. I felt more confident as the lessons went by. I had a great teacher," said Arntz.

His win solidified  dominance in the competition. Arntz is a Palm Harbor native who was encouraged by his boss to enter the competition.

“When the chief says do it, you do it,” Arntz told Palm Harbor Patch during a rehearsal before the final competition.

No doubt, there will probably be a Palm Harbor firefighter in next year's dance contest as well. Potential competitors might want to start practicing for the contest now.
