Former Pinellas Youth Football President Charged With Grand Theft

The former president of the Suncoast Youth Football Conference has been charged with grand theft after reportedly stealing $29,000.

PALM HARBOR, FL -- The former president of the Suncoast Youth Football Conference has been charged with grand theft after reportedly stealing $29,000 from the organization.

Following an investigation by the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office Economic Crimes Unit, Leonard Anderson, 62, of 795 County Road 1, Lot 177, Palm Harbor, was arrested Jan. 18 and charged with one count of grand theft.

According to the Pinellas Sheriff's Office, between December 2016 and May 2017, $29,000 was stolen from the Suncoast Youth Football Conference bank account at Regions Bank 104786 U.S. 19 N., Tarpon Springs.

Detectives began their investigation in May 2017 after the Suncoast Youth Football Conference reported multiple discrepancies during a financial audit. Detectives discovered that Anderson used the money for personal use including purchasing a mobile home.

The Suncoast Youth Football Conference is comprised of 12 youth football teams from across Pinellas County.

Anderson was transported to the Pinellas County Jail without incident. The investigation is continuing.
