Friday is National Donut Day

Dunkin' Donuts and Krispy Kreme stores are giving away donuts to mark the holiday.

Yum!

Tomorrow (June 1) is National Donut Day, which celebrates the little treat with the big hole. In case you are not hip to the holiday, National Donut Day is reserved for the first Friday of each June. Dunkin' Donuts and Krispy Kreme shops will be giving away free donuts. At Dunkin Donuts, you get a free donut with purchase of a beverage. At Krispy Kreme, they'll just give you a donut for free, no purchase neccessary. These restaurants are located right here in Palm Harbor, so you will have a short drive if you want a free donut.

We can actually thank the Salvation Army for the celebration. According to wikipedia.com, the holiday's roots date back to a 1938 event that served as a way to honor women who handed out the deep-fried delight to American soldiers during the first World War.
