Bill's SuperGas Changing to Bill's Mobil

If you drive U.S. 19 on a regular basis, you may have noticed some changes underway at a popular Palm Harbor business.

Crews have been busy giving Bill's SuperGas a new look. They've been scraping the paint off the gas station at the corner of U.S. 19 and Tampa Rd, which may have made you wonder if longtime owner Bill Gallant had sold the place. The answer would be a big "NO!".

Gallant, who bought the gas station 20 years ago, has decided to start selling Mobil brand gas, which has prompted a face-lift of sorts. In addition to the new paint and signage, new LED gas pumps will be installed. The station will also sell Mobil synthetic oil, which is a popular choice for many high end vehicles.

The gas station may have a new look and a new name, "Bill's Mobil", but customers will get the same type of attentive "old school" service that Bill's SuperGas is known for. 

"Customer service is always the basis of our business," said Gallant.

The staff still pumps gas for customers upon request and the gas station is also one of the few around that still offers automotive maintenance and repairs. Some of Gallant's customers have been taking their cars to his gas station for 20 years.

"We have customers who buy brand new cars and come to me for service," he said. 

Gallant's son, Kevin, knows many of the longtime customers. Kevin has worked at the station since he was a teenager in high school. The father and son team can remember back in the days when gas was priced just above a dollar. Bill says back then, people made a big deal about how gas prices had risen to more than a dollar a gallon. Those were the days!
