Gov Signs Palm Harbor Lawmaker's Blue Alert Bill
Rep. Peter Nehr sponsored the emergency alert bill.

Florida Governor Rick Scott has signed Rep. Peter Nehr's Blue Alert Bill. The law becomes effective on October 1.
The new law requires FDLE to issue a "Blue Alert" if a law enforcement officer is killed, missing, or assaulted and the suspect has not been found.
The alert will be dispatched in the same manner as an Amber Alert or a Silver Alert with notification sent to the media. Information will also be distributed on the statewide emergency alert system which has electronic signs on major highways and roads.
