Photos: Students Learn Sweet Lesson During Great American Teach-In
Students in Sue Elsey's journalism class at Carwise Middle School made a sweet treat during the Great American Teach-In.
Dairy Queen owner Christine Beresch is a rock star when it comes to the Great American Teach-In. She brought a treat to class that's an all-time favorite of kids and grownups alike, ice cream.
Beresch arrived at Carwise Middle School pushing a cart that carried a large, ice cream cake, a big tub of frosting and all the accessories that kids in teacher Sue Elsey's journalism class would need to decorate the tasty treat.
Beresche taught the kids to decorate the cake like a pro. They gathered around a table at the front of the classroom while Beresche explained the proper way to hold a frosting bag when decorating a cake.

The students put decorative borders on the cake that surrounded an edible picture of dolphins. They added a peace sign and some hearts, then finished it off by writing "Journalism" at the top.
After the kids finished, the cake was quickly cut and distributed for everyone to eat. It made for one tasty lesson.
