Great Pyrenees Puppy Saved From Euthanization, Now Looking for a Home

Palm Harbor Patch is proud to help the Suncoast Animal League find a forever home for dogs Lilly and Tripper.

We have two pets this week who are looking for a new home-

Meet Tripper, who is a four month-old, 26-pound bloodhound mix. With his sisters, Chrissy and Janet, already adopted, Tripper is waiting to be next. Tripper's adoption availability was delayed because he needed to have surgery on a tear duct gland.

Tripper was rescued from Sebring Animal Control after Tropical Storm Debby flooded the area. His foster family says, "He has been nothing but a sweetheart. He is very good with the kids, who are seven and nine year-old girls, our older Pomeranian, and our cat. We are seeing positive results on his housebreaking and have also taught him sign language. He's a love."

Tripper will be missed by his foster family, but he is ready for his new home.

Lilly is a four month-old Great Pyrenees/hound-mix puppy who was rescued with her mother and two siblings on June 14, when we took 38 dogs from another shelter that were scheduled to be euthanized.  She currently weighs about 20 lbs.

We're not sure how Lilly's dog family ended up being out on their own, but it definitely didn't suit them.  Lilly does not have a high tolerance for heat and would much rather be inside with people.

Lilly is still a bit nervous about noises, new people, and new animals.  She might not do well in a loud home with toddlers, but she's come a long way in the last few weeks with her foster family.  She will need to be adopted by a patient family, who will go slow and earn her love and trust.  She has a very calm, sweet personality and will be a fantastic dog when she grows up.  Lilly is affectionate, loves to snuggle and warms up quickly to other dogs.  She might love having an older, calm dog in the house to mentor her.

It would be best if Lilly were adopted by someone who has experience with owning and training a large breed dog that lives inside.  Lily's mom is a purebred Great Pyrenees. So, if size is a factor in your adoption decision, please remember that Lilly could be 80 lbs. when she's fully grown.
