"Key Largo" Songwriter to Premiere Movie in Palm Harbor Tonight
Tarpon Springs native Bertie Higgins -who wrote the 1980s tropical rock hit "Key Largo"- returns to Pinellas County for the Florida premiere of "Through the Eye", a drug-smuggling drama co-written by Higgins and directed by his son, Julian.
Palm Harbor is going Hollywood tonight for the Florida premiere of "Through the Eye", a new movie from Tarpon Springs native Bertie Higgins and his son Julian.Β
Singer-songwriter, Bertie Higgins may be famous for his 1980s tropical rock hit "Key Largo", but now you canΒ see him on the big screen. Higgins co-wrote the screenplay for Through the Eye and also appears with actor Tom Sizemore in the 1970s era drama about a former cop on a mission to break up a drug smuggling ring in Columbia.
If you look closely, you might also recognize some of the movie's backdrops. Scenes for the flick were shot last year in Palm Harbor, Tarpon Springs and New Port Richey.

About a hundred cast and crew members are expected to attend tonight's premiere at with about 350 more free seats set aside for the public on a first-come first-serve basis.
The staff at Muvico says they expect it to be a busy evening.

- The theatre opens at 7 pm. for seating.Β
- Prior to the drama's premiere, patrons can check out props from the movie.
- The movie begins at 8 p.m.
- Following the screening, there will be a Q & A session hosted by the cast and crew.
- The public is invited to an "after party" across the street from the theater at the Dockside Sports Bar and Grill at the Lake Tarpon Resort, 37611 U.S. Highway 19 N.
If you can't make it to tonight's free premiere, the Palm Harbor Muvico Theater will be holding a second screening Thursday at 8 p.m. Tickets cost $8 for adults and $6.40 for kids, seniors and members of the military. Proceeds from the Thursday screening will be donated to charity.
