Local Fire Official Honored with Surprise Party

Liz Monforti, who serves as the Public Education Specialist and the Public Information Officer for Palm Harbor Fire Rescue was honored with a surprise party to celebrate that she was recently named Florida Safety Educator of the Year.

Palm Harbor Fire Rescue's Liz Monforti thought she was just going out for lunch last Friday, but when she returned to the Fire Station she was treated to a surprise party that was secretly arranged by Palm Harbor Fire Rescue Chief James Angle.Β 

Monforti, who serves as the Public Education Specialist and the Public Information Officer for Palm Harbor Fire Rescue was honored with the surprise party to celebrate that she was recently named Florida Safety Educator of the Year.

Monforti walked into a darkened meeting room filled with co-workers, family, friends, and even a state official; Director Julius Halas of the Florida Division of State Fire Marshal.

Monforti's two young daughters, Gabby, 4, and Milah, 3, were especially charming as they ran to the door to surprise and hug their mother when she walked in.

"I was very surprised, I had no idea," said Monforti.

Fire Chief James Angle spoke of Monforti's accomplishments as a photo slideshow played on a large screen.Β Florida Division of State Fire Marshal Director Julius Halas read a proclamation that was signed by Florida Governor Rick Scott and State Attorney General Pam Bondi.

Monforti's husband, parents and sister also attended the surprise party, which included a custom cake.
