Locals Speak Out as Romney Stumps for Votes
Republican Presidential hopeful Mitt Romney visited Dunedin to deliver a campaign speech on the eve of Florida's Republican Presidential Preference Primary. Here's what some of Palm Harbor's most vocal residents have to say about the race for President.
"I believe Mitt Romney lacks the necessary skills to successfully win a debate with the incumbent President Obama. He's a political opportunist. Newt Gingrich identifies Mitt Romney as a man who will only "manage disaster" if elected. I believe that is true.
Gingrich on the other hand, despite all his warts, is a candidate that projects an image of political conviction and genuine conservatism.
Between these two candidates most conservatives are faced with a choice of the lesser of two evils - whatever that may be.

I believe either GOP candidate can win in the upcoming Presidential election. But we will be settling for a new man in the White House that lacks the qualities we both need and deserve."

"From what I have seen, which granted is limited to a very little TV, most of the coverage seems be pointed towards why someone should not vote for _________.Β And then, you "fill in the blank" rather than putting out issues and points of view on various topics.
To my knowledge, which is limited, there has been no detailed specific plan on how to balance the budget.Β We have heard many general statements but no detailed specific plans.Β As the old saying goes, "The devil is in the details". Β Failing the specifics we don't have sufficient information in order to form a honest realistic opinion."

"I believe that Mitt Romney will be the elected president because he would attract every Republican of course to beat Barack Obama, many Independents, and conservative Democrats. He will beat Obama hands down in a debate even with his health care plan that only covered a portion of Massachusetts. Β Newt may do as well. I am still torn between picking one of these four. Can I clone the best from all of them?"

"I have voted for Ron Paul which is not what the establishment Republicans want to hear. They want to push more of the same down our throats. The truth is that when both parties don't like someone, they must be doing something right.
Ron Paul has been predicting theΒ financialΒ melt down for years now. Media and mainstream Republicans have called Dr. Paul Β "a crazy old man" Β for years. Yet, time after time his predictions have come true.
The hardest thing for me toΒ swallowΒ was Dr. Paul's foreign policy, which I was being spoon fed by the media. It wasn'tΒ untilΒ I looked for myself and realized that he doesn't want to make the military weak. He wants to cut wastefulΒ militaryΒ spending not downsize the military.
Dr. Paul leads allΒ candidates in contributions by active duty military! I think we heard the truth from Mitt Romney when he said in a Republican debateΒ "Let's Ask Our Constitutionalist"Β (referring to Dr Paul). I believe in theΒ ConstitutionΒ and liberty over security. That is why I support Ron Paul!"
