So, did the hundreds of delegates spend money at local businesses?
"The convention has meant a few customers but not much," said Jason Mitow, Marketing Manager at the , one of Palm Harbor's most popular restaurants.

"I didn't expect a bunch of business from the convention because they are on pretty tight schedules and they have a lot of events planned for the delegates. Maybe some of them will stick around and enjoy the weekend here," he said.
Mitow also says it's the slowest week of the year, because it's back-to-school week. He thinks the recent threat of tropical weather may have also impacted business.

"It's also slower because all these hardworking people in this area spent a bunch of money on Hurricane Isaac supplies and food. Most people didn't have that money to spend," he said.
