Man Accused of Killing Guinea Pig

Arrest affidavits say Palm Harbor resident Christopher J. King, 51, killed his sister's pet guinea pig, Rocky, in front of her by throwing it against the front door of their home.

A 51-year-old Palm Harbor man is accused of hitting his older sister and killing her pet guinea pig.

Christopher J. King,Β is charged with felony cruelty to animals and domestic battery after an incident at his home around 6:30 p.m. Oct. 13, according to arrest affidavits.

Detectives say King punched the guinea pig's cage multiple times. King then allegedly reached into the cage and picked up the three-year-old guinea pig named Rocky and threw the pet against the front door of his home, killing him.

King's older sister, who also lives at the home, witnessed the incident. Arrest affidavits say that after King killed the guinea pig, he was laying on his stomach watching the Internet and his sister hit him on the back twice. King then allegedly rolled over and hit his sister, knocking her to the ground.

Arrest affidavits say it did not appear as though King suffered from a mental illness or was under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

King was booked into the Pinellas County Jail. Bond was set at $15,000, according to jail records.
