Marilyn Monroe Print Sells for $410 at Benefit Auction
"Art for Animals" auction raised more than $9,000 for the Suncoast Animal League.
A print of Marilyn Monroe holding a Pekingese dog by celebrity photography Milton H. Greene was sold for $410 during the Suncoast Animal League's benefit auction.
Executive Director, Rick Chaboudy says he could not have been more pleased with the outcome of the event held on June 24. Chaboudy says the auction raised $9,676 for the non-profit.
"Suncoast Animal League's goal was to have a financially successful event and to show everyone a great time. The Art for Animals event exceeded our expectations," he said.

A painting by Tarpon Springs artist Michelle Mardis called "Home Alone" went for $420. Other auction highlights included a painting by the Animal League's resident artist, "George" the goose, which fetched $130. Overall, artwork sold for an average of about $130.
Chaboudy said the silent auction was also big hit and most people stayed around to the very end.

The Nielsen Company hosted the event at its Oldsmar facility. The auction was co-sponsored by the City of Oldsmar.
"The Nielsen Company facility was the perfect venue and the Nielsen staff couldn't have been more community friendly or easier to work with," said Chaboudy.
