New McDonald's Could Open Nov. 1

You may remember seeing bulldozers tearing down the  on U.S. 19 back in August. Back then, we told you that the company was planning on opening a brand new McDonald's at the same location on November 1. 

The clock is ticking and crews are working non-stop to meet that deadline, "We'll do everything in our power to open on November 1," says Bert Santini, Director of Operations for McDonald's. Santini added that if they miss the deadline, the restaurant will open by November 2 for sure.

The new McDonald's will have a more contemporary decor. New metal lighting fixtures are already visible through the windows. 

The new restaurant will also feature two drive-thru lanes, which will allow staff to serve more drive-thru customers. Santini says 70 to 80 percent of the restaurant's business is at the drive-thru. Before the remodel, the restaurant served an average of 1,700 to 2,000. Santini thinks that number could increase with the second drive-thru lane.

The new restaurant will also have two big screen TVs and will seat 92 people.

Santini says the restaurant will host an Grand Opening celebration featuring a week of activities including an appearance by Ronald McDonald. As soon as details are made available, we'll pass those along to you.
