The Centre Sprucing Up for Grand Re-Opening Party

The community has pitched in to help the Palm Harbor Community Activity Center with its transformation. The facility has a new look and a new identity, The Centre. A big party is planned for the Aug. 11 grand re-opening.

One of Palm Harbor's most popular destinations is about to celebrate its grand re-opening, and you're invited to the big bash. The Centre, formerly known as the Palm Harbor Community Activity Center, will hold a grand re-opening party from 2-6 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 11.

You may have noticed some changes at The Centre over the last few months.

  • The facility's name changed from Palm Harbor Community Activity Center to The Centre.
  • The inside of The Centre underwent a makeover  .
  • This week, volunteers put the finishing touches on an impressive landscaping project at The Centre (see photos above).

The transformation has been a community effort from the start.

"What warms my heart is the support we've received from the community," said Erica Lynford, Director of The Centre, as she stood outside admiring the landscaping. "The people of Palm Harbor know the work we do."

Donovan's Property Services donated the labor for much of the landscaping. Trees were planted in the center parking median as part of an Eagle Scout project. The Palm Harbor Lion's Club donated four palm trees which were planted outside of building two.

Volunteers also lent a hand. Palm Harbor resident Jessalyn Felts, 17, is in the Bright Futures Scholarship Volunteer Program. Last Thursday, the Tarpon High School Senior painted the fountain near the entrance of The Centre.
