Ozona Celebrates 4th of July with Golf Cart Parade

Residents in Palm Harbor's community of Ozona celebrated Independence Day by incorporating their unique method of travel into the festivities.

If you ever attend Ozona's Fourth of July parade, don't expect to see huge floats. Members of this charming, laid-back community put their own fun spin on their annual Independence Day celebration.

Last Saturday, residents got up early to adorn their golf carts with patriotic decorations. They grabbed the kids and the dogs, then lined up in front of the teeny-tiny post office on Orange St. at 9 a.m. for the community's annual golf cart parade.

The parade was led by Palm Harbor Fire Rescue Training Chief Tim Pilson, who was driving a golf cart customized to look like a fire engine. Kids on bikes joined in the parade, too.
