First-Time Palm Harbor Voter Calls Experience 'Empowering'

"You should definitely do it. It's one of your rights. You gotta voice your opinion," said Martin Licznerski, 19, who voted for the first time Tuesday.

Palm Harbor resident Martin Licznerski, 19, voted for the first time early Tuesday afternoon.

"It was pretty empowering," he said, just moments after walking out of the Palm Harbor Library where he cast his ballot.

"I feel like an American. It makes me feel good."

Licznerski says he studied before heading to the poll and also considered his brother's opinion when deciding to vote for Mitt Romney for president.

"My brother is a very political person, I'm not so much. But, I listened to him and I looked at Obama too on all the issues and I lean more toward Romney."

Licznerski says his first trip to the poll went smoothly. Voting took about 25 minutes and he did not have to wait in line

"It was pretty quick."

Now that he has one election under his belt, Licznerski recommends that others who have never voted do so.

"You should definitely do it. It's one of your rights. You gotta voice your opinion."
