Palm Harbor Weekend Music Scene

This weekend sees the many musical regulars take to the various Palm Harbor stages as well as some new faces and a new incarnation of a favorite local band.

’s regular house band Flying High will be performing at 7 p.m. on Friday and Saturday night. This duo plays a blend of classics as well as some less well-known tunes. Both members of the band sing and bring a harmonic interplay of vocals to their sound. 

On Friday night, the band Bounce House will be taking to the stage at the . This local band is as upbeat and energetic as you would expect given the name. Their sets cover a wide range of music genres, in particular reggae and rock. The music kicks off at 8 p.m. 

Not sure what kind of music you are in the mood for? Then head down to the on Friday night where it is open mic night. From 8 p.m. onwards you can hear all kinds of talent performing a variety of different musical styles.

Sparkplugs will be performing at on Friday night. This three piece outfit performs a variety of favorite tunes which cover a wide range of genres including classic rock and easy listening. The show starts at 8 p.m. and runs past midnight.

The stage at is the place to see Jimmy Griswold on Friday night. Griswold is an experienced blues player who has performed all over the world and opened for some big names including Robert Cray. Fans of old school blues will enjoy this show which kicks off at 8pm.

Also on Friday night Tyson Marshall will be playing at Irish Pub. Marshall is the front man for the Tampa based band Offshore Riot but also performs as a solo artist with his trusty acoustic guitar. He plays a mixture of original tunes and cover versions, adapted for his own unique style which blends rock, reggae, blues and R & B. The show starts at 9 p.m. and runs through to 1 a.m.

Coming on back to The Witch's Brew on Saturday night are The Defendants. This long established band returns to its regular venue with a new front man. The Defendants set lists usually feature songs from such renowned artists as Eric Clapton, The Rolling Stones, Grand Funk Railroad and Dave Mason.   The band takes the stage at 8 p.m. and can be seen live at:www.livestream.com/thewitchsbrew 

Also on Saturday night, the band Elephant Gerald will be performing at the Palm Harbor House of Beer. This unique band features Jeremy Douglass on keyboard, Steve Turner on Drums and Ice on bass. The band plays a blend of jazz, funk and fusion creating a distinct and unique sound which they apply to both classic and popular modern tunes. Everything from Miles Davis to Cole Porter gets an Elephant Gerald reworking. The show starts at 8 p.m. 

Bringing the blues to Ozona this Saturday night is the Backwater Blues Band, performing at JC Craver's at 9 p.m. This trio performs original blues music in addition to some up-tempo re-workings of some well known classics. Formed in 1997, Backwater Blues Band draws on a wide range of influences, in particular Texas, Chicago and New Orleans Blues.

Down at the Dockside Sports Bar & Grille visitors can hear the band At Large performing on Saturday night. This local band delivers a variety of sounds and musical styles from easy listening to classic rock favorites utilizing such instruments as keyboards, guitars and saxophone. The music begins at 9 p.m. and continues right through to 1 a.m.

Peggy O’Neill’s sees regulars Badranch return on Saturday night at 9 p.m. This popular band draws on a mixture of diverse musical backgrounds to create a distinct style which blends smooth melodies with a darker edge.
