Palm Harbor Weekend Music Scene: Battle of the Garage Bands Plus Much More!

Palm Harbor can look forward to a busy weekend of music with the usual mixture of bands and solo performers to be heard as well as a 14 act Battle of the Bands.

’s house band Flying High will be performing at 7 p.m. on Friday and Saturday night. The duo plays a blend of classics as well as some less well-known tunes. Both members of the band sing and bring a harmonic interplay of vocals to their sound. 

There is a live music double bill at on Friday night. Two unique solo performers will be sharing the spotlight from 8 p.m. onwards. Wynn Taylor is a singer songwriter, originally from Kentucky, who honed his craft in Austin before moving to the Tampa Bay area. Taylor’s intricate acoustic guitar playing and soulful voice blend well to deliver songs both powerful and touching. Also performing on Friday night at Palm Harbor House of Beer is Jeremiah Hutchison who plays a mixture of original tunes and cover versions. Hutchinson delivers a refreshingly unusual sound thanks to his slide guitar playing and deep vocals. With a wide repertoire of songs and a style all of his own, Hutchinson is an engaging performer who brings back some of the roots of American music.

Not sure what kind of music you are in the mood for? Then head down to the on Friday night where it is open mic night. From 8 p.m. onwards you can hear all kinds of talent performing a variety of different musical styles. 

Bill & Hank will be performing at on Friday night. This duo perform classics and favorites from the 80’s and 90’s as well as more contemporary hits. The music starts at 8 p.m.

On Friday night The Black Honkeys are playing at at 9 p.m. This eight piece band will be bringing a little funk to Ozona with their catchy performances of Motown and soul classics. As well covers of artists such as Marvin Gayle, The Temptations and Kool and The Gang. The band also has some funky original tunes. 

Badranch will be returning to on Friday night. This popular combo is a regular on the Peggy O’Neill’s stage where they perform everything from The Beatles to Blind Melon and Cat Stevens to Soundgarden. The blend of such diverse influences results in a distinct sound at once smooth and yet edgy. The tunes start at 9 p.m. 

The music starts early on Saturday with a Battle of the Garage Bands taking place at Dockside Sports Bar & Grille. This special event features 14 bands from all over the area with musical genres ranging from 70’s classics to country and rock and just about everything in between. The first band goes on at 1 p.m. and the event is expected to run right up to 9 p.m. 

Taking to the patio stage at The Witch's Brew on Saturday is the ever popular acoustic guitarist Jack Poland. An accomplished acoustic player, Poland performs folk and rock tunes and classics from the 60’s and 70’s. The show starts 8 p.m. and ends at 11 p.m. and will be shown at: www.livestream.com/thewitchsbrew

Returning to J.C. Craver's in Ozona is the band Blue Lightning who will be performing on Saturday night from 9 p.m. This four-member band plays a varied set of blues and rock classics from the likes of Stevie Ray Vaughn, Cream, Jimi Hendrix, Allman Brothers Band and Pink Floyd as well as more modern covers from the artists such as John Mayer.
