Palm Harbor Weekend Music Scene: Rockin' Halloween Edition!

It's Halloween time again but there's nothing scary about the musical lineup in Palm Harbor this weekend. With two all-day events plus countless other performers, it looks set to be a rocking weekend.

sees the return of its regular weekend band Flying High who will be performing on both Friday night and Saturday night at 7 p.m. Also on Saturday night their will be a costume contest from 7-9 p.m.

Rock band Axis will be performing at on Friday night. This hard rock band were formed in 2010 and are influenced by the likes of Jimi Hendrix, Ozzy Osbourne, Alice in Chains and Metallica. The music starts at 8 p.m. 

Looking for some musical variety to kick start your weekend? Then head down to the on Friday night where it is open mic night. From 8 p.m. onwards you can hear all kinds of talent performing a multitude of different musical styles.

At you can see Mike Nichols playing his trusted acoustic guitar from 8:30 p.m. A versatile and engaging performer, Nichols is also an accomplished songwriter with a back catalog of catchy original tunes. He can usually be found hosting the House of Beer Open Mic Night on Mondays but on Friday night he is going solo. For more details visit: www.michaelnicholsmusic.com

Chad Britt will be performing at on Friday night. This solo performer’s sound is best categorized as country with other influences evident in his songs. The performance starts at 8:30 p.m.

Brian Caudill returns to on Friday night. Often seen with drummer Brad Smith performing as The Little Big Show, Caudill also plays solo shows. His sets include original music as well as covers from artists such as The Beatles, Kings of Leon and Dave Matthews. The show starts at 9 p.m. and runs to 1 a.m.

On Saturday Palm Harbor will be reverberating with live music with several events celebrating Halloween. The music starts at 2 p.m.  at Dockside Sports Bar & Grille where the CC Beagle Head Festival takes place. Five acts will be playing starting with T.J. Weger at 2 p.m. followed by Jimmy Suvoy at 3 p.m. Then at 4 p.m. Danny & Josh take the stage followed by Big Jim Allen at 6 p.m. The headline act is of course C C Beagle Head who will play from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. This band is named for their four biggest influences; CCR, The Beatles, The Eagles and The Grateful Dead. The band is comprised of Regina AaMacha, Tom Bent, Mike Kremer and Glenn Trojnar.

Acoustic performer Chris Murphy will be playing at The Thirsty Marlin on Saturday night from 7 p.m. Murphy plays a variety of classic rock tunes, reworked for acoustic guitar.

A second festival takes place on Saturday at The Witch's Brew were they will be celebrating their annual Witchstock event from 3 p.m. onwards. In addition to various costume contests there will also be live music throughout the day courtesy of Terry Premru who will be performing tunes from the Wizard of Oz on his acoustic guitar. Then at 6:30 p.m. Jack Poland & Friends will be playing some Woodstock inspired tunes from the 60’s. Finally the new look Defendants will be rocking out on the patio stage from 7:30 p.m. The event can be viewed live at: www.livestream.com/thewitchsbrew 

The Palm Harbor House of Beer is hosting a Zombie Party on Saturday night with costume contests, horror movies and various other activities starting at 8 p.m.

Razed By Wolves will be returning to Ozona to play at on Saturday night. This rock and blues band are regulars at the Ozona venue where they have built quite a following.

Last and by no means least, the Jason Parker Band will be performing at Peggy O’Neill’s on Saturday night. With a set list containing everything from contemporary music to classics from the 70’s, this band offers something for everyone. Influenced by the likes of Jack Johnson, 3 Doors Down and Sublime, the band has a distinct pop rock sound. The show starts at 9 p.m. and runs until 1 a.m. Peggy O'Neill's will also have a costume contest Saturday night.
