Party Time for Palm Harbor Parrot Heads
The 10th annual Parrot Head Party returns to downtown Palm Harbor, a day of live music and family fun.
Now in its tenth year, the Parrot Head Party has become a much loved tradition for downtown Palm Harbor. The fun kicks off at 2pm on Saturday June 4 with street vendors, live music and of course margaritas. For the younger parrot heads there will also be a children’s playground and a bungee wall.
To celebrate the 10th anniversary of this local landmark event, guests can buy special souvenir margarita glasses as well as beverages to fill them. There will also be a variety of different foods on offer including Greek, barbecue, arepas and seafood.
This year’s party will have over 30 vendors in attendance selling everything from handbags and jewelry to wood carvings and art.

The party is organized by and is responsible for overseeing the organization of the Parrot Head Party. “Our Main Street is unique in that Palm Harbor is unincorporated so there is truly no financial assistance provided from a city, our county or any other government agency,” explained Robin Husbands-Cauchi, ”The event is funded through selling vendor spaces, beverage and food sales and sponsorships, both in kind and cash.”
According to Husbands-Cauchi the idea for the event came about ten years ago and was the brainchild of former OPHMS board member Rachel Warmouth. The event was designed as tropical themed fundraiser and was inspired by the popularity of Jimmy Buffett.

“It seemed to be a great fit for our area and has proved to be so as it is our most popular event still,” said Husbands-Cauchi.
A variety of musical acts will be performing at various venues throughout the downtown area with headliners The Caribbean Chillers keeping things tropical at 6pm. Also playing the event will be Bonnie Bowers, Ben Bryan, Rumorhazzitt, Alpha Steel and John Mayeux.
Aside from putting together the annual Parrot Head Party, OPHMS also serves the Palm Harbor area by working to maintain the downtown area. There aims include the preservation of the areas history as well as the development of the local economy.
“The main purpose of Main Street organizations is historic preservation, economic restructuring and promotion,” said Husbands-Cauchi.
The OPHMS mission statement is “to preserve and enhance the quality of life and business in downtown Palm Harbor.”
The hours for the Parrot Head Party are 2pm to 10pm.
