Pet of the Week: Charlotte Has a Sweet Personality

Palm Harbor Patch is proud to help the Suncoast Animal League find a forever home for this great pet.

Charlotte is a nine-week-old German Shepherd-Chow mix puppy.

She and her sister, Nita, have been living with one of our foster families since they were two weeks old.  They were bottle fed, so they’re very affectionate and love everyone they meet.

Charlotte’s ears will stand up as she gets a bit older (they’re already trying now) and judging by the size of her feet, she will probably be a large dog.  She is good with cats, children and loves other dogs.  She is learning basic commands, is crate trained and is doing well with house training.  She’s very smart and has a calm, sweet personality.

Charlotte will need a special, attentive family because she has a minor genetic defect that affects her balance.  She has a slight head tilt that makes her fall easily, so she needs to be monitored when she's near a pool or in any other situation that could be dangerous for her.  All puppies go through their awkward phase when they’re growing, so Charlotte’s balance will probably improve with age as she learns to compensate for the issue, but we expect that she will always have this balance issue to some degree.  For this reason, she would do best in a home with another calm dog, who might help to mentor and guide her, if she is not adopted with her sister.  Aside from that, Charlotte is a very healthy puppy who will make a fantastic constant companion for the right owner!
