Sampling the Food at Taste of North Pinellas

Restaurant review: Checking out the culinary highlights at this past weekend's Taste of North Pinellas in Palm Harbor.

This past weekend's Taste of North Pinellas was quite a food fest. Crowds of hungry members of the community filled in Palm Harbor for a taste of local flavor. Here are some highlights from some of the restaurants I sampled at the event:

Tarpon Turtle

Tarpon Turtle was certainly my favorite stand at the event. The restaurant offered a nice variety of samples, and its lobster bisque was incredible. The crowds were large at the Taste of North Pinellas, and Tarpon Turtle was perhaps the best prepared to handle the hungry patrons. The volunteers at the booth were also a pleasure to talk to.

Henry’s was one of my other favorites at the Taste of North Pinellas. The sauce and quality of their meat was enjoyable, and they too were working well under the pressure of quite a large crowd. I would want to stop into Henry’s to see how they match up against Tampa favorite Mel’s Hot Dogs.

Bruschetta was the choice sample from Positano’s. The tomatoes were very fresh, but the bread was a little hard. It was a safe sample to prepare though and could be served in bulk, so it is understandable as to why Positano chose to offer bruschetta as their choice.

Tiffany’s offered a very tasty dessert choice. It was light and yet enjoyable. I would be interested in trying more of the food at Tiffany’s in the future. The other choice, , had some tasty dessert options, but I preferred Tiffany’s.

The event was a bit overwhelmed by the crowd, which may have been due to a Groupon available online. Nevertheless, the Taste of North Pinellas showcased some of the great dining options residents in this side of town have, and a repeat event with a little more organization could really be a seller.
