Scottish Highland Dancer Teaches Kids Her Moves
"The great thing about Scottish dancing is I've been able to do it around the world," says Elizabeth Constantine, 27, of Palm Harbor, who is now teaching Scottish highland dance to kids.
Got a kid who needs to burn off a bit of energy? A talented young Scottish highland dancer from Palm Harbor is passing along her expertise to children.
Elizabeth Constantine, 27, began Scottish highland dancing when she was eight years-old. Since then, she's performed and competed in the United States, Europe and Asia. Her talent has also landed her gigs at Walt Disney resorts in Orlando, Tokyo and Hong Kong. If you follow this type of dance here in the U.S., you may have seen her dance at Dunedin's Highland Games or the Virginia International Tattoo.
"The great thing about Scottish dancing is I've been able to do it around the world. There's a Scottish sub-culture around the world, and you don't even realize it until you're a part of it," she said.

Constantine has been a certified instructor with the British Association of Teachers of Dancing for a decade. Now, she's passing along her knowledge to kids by teaching Scottish highland dance classes at .
"They're so cute. You forget what age you were when you learned to do things like jump and skip, It's so cute."

Constantine, whose husband is also a professional dancer, says Scottish highland dance is a great form of exercise for kids and adults.
"It's very aerobic. It's pretty high intensity. It does take discipline, but it can be a lot of fun. If you're not having fun, there's probably something wrong."
Prices for Constantine's children's classes start at $40 per month, which consists of one class per week. Classes are held at , 1500 16th St., Palm Harbor. Other classes are also forming.
Fall 2012 Schedule
- Primary Ages 5 to 6: Thursdays 4-4:30 p.m.
- Beginners Ages 7 and up: Thursdays 5-5:45 p.m.
