Pilates Elder in Palm Harbor Friday

If you're familiar with the physical fitness system Pilates, you probably have heard of its creator, Joseph Pilates.

Joseph Pilates died in the 1960's, however some of the students he originally taught, who are called Pilates Elders are still living today. One of those elders will be making a special appearance here in Palm Harbor, Friday Feb. 3 and Saturday, Feb. 4.

 will be hosting a free meet and greet with Pilates Elder and First Generation Pilates Master Teacher Lolita San Miguel. Miguel, who is in her late 70s, is one of two known practitioners to have been officially certified by Joseph Pilates. Prior to starting her Pilates Master Mentor Program, Miguel was a dancer who spent more than ten years as a soloist with the Metropolitan Ballet. She now lives in Palm Beach Gardens.

The meet and greet will be from 5:30 to 6:45 p.m. Friday, Feb. 3 at Suncoast Pilates, which is located at 30480 US 19 in the Highland Lakes Square Plaza. Pre-registration is required.

Lolita San Miguel will also host a workshop for Pilates instructors, clients and enthusiasts from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday. You can register for the workshop online. For more information call (727) 772-6772.
