Shear Wonders: a One Stop Beauty Shop

As famous poet Ralph Waldo Emerson said, “Love of beauty is taste. The creation of beauty is art.” At in Palm Harbor, owners Kristy and Gina Toscano – a mother-daughter team – understand the empowerment of transformation, and the joy that comes from making clients beautiful.

“Our philosophy is to bring out the beauty is everyone by providing a comfortable, friendly environment that caters to our clients wants, needs and expectations.”

This mother-daughter duo has always been close and dreamed of working together. After Kristy graduated from cosmetology school, her mom Gina started looking into buying a salon. According to the twosome, everything came together so naturally.

The pair opened Shear Wonders in 2007. The full-service salon offers hair color, cuts and styles, a full range of nail services including acrylics, manicures, pedicures and the new Shellac polish. They also offer facial waxing, as well as bikini and full body waxing along with spray tanning.

“We want our clients to feel comfortable, at home and feel free to ask questions and to walk through the door in just about anything they have in their closet,” said the Toscano’s. “Yoga pants, no makeup, etc.  we do not judge.  We are responsible to make them [clients] feel and look beautiful.  They don't need to walk in the door like they are attending a cocktail party.  Come as you are.  We will take care of the rest of the beauty.”   

In an economy where people are always cutting back to save money, many have resorted to do-it-yourself beauty regimens that often backfire. The owenrs say at Shear Wonder, your beauty does not have to take a backseat to money.

“If a client is on a budget, we simply ask them what it is and we will do whatever possible to give them the look they want while staying within their budget,” explained the Toscano’s. “In this economy, we completely understand!  We have had a few clients color their own hair due to not having the funds to have it done professionally.  We have done several corrective colors as a result of this.  We will work with any budget; even while doing a color correction. We don't know of too many salons that offer this.  We want the client to look fantastic.  We get rewarded by the simple fact of that huge smile on a clients face.” 

The staff at Shear Wonders likes to make clients feel like they are at home. Each client, new and old alike, is treated as though they are family. They stylists take the time to answer any questions as well as educate the client through the beautification process. “There is no use creating a new look if the client doesn't know how to duplicate the look at home, said the duo.”
