Teen, Alex Casano brings Life to the Palm Harbor Area

A Documentary being created about Palm Harbor

There is a name on the internet that keeps swirling around and stirring up people’s interest of history. His name is Alex Casano. The latest swirl that Alex has made involves making a documentary of Palm Harbor. He will be starting production in January 2019.

The documentary film, titled “The People of Palm Harbor” is about the lifelong residents of Palm Harbor, Ozona, East Lake, Crystal Beach, and Indian Bluff Island. The goal of the film is to encourage those residents to share their stories, photographs, home movies, artifacts, and audio recordings so that future generations can appreciate and understand the history of the Palm Harbor area.
At only 19 years of age, he has been a photographer since 2014 and has volunteered for the Palm Harbor Museum from 2013-2014. He was doing the “life history” videos for a while at the museum. That inspired him to connect with the local community and really become part of Florida history.

Alex was homeschooled and said that his parents motivated him to focus on his interests and what he was good at. His grandmother, Marie Casano was an inspiration with his photography. She taught him some knowledge about photography, although Alex said that he was mostly “self-taught.”

His combined interests were a motivator to start his own multimedia company, “Preserve Your Past,” which is still in its early stages.

Alex Casano is a Florida photographer, filmmaker, historian, entrepreneur and author. His first book, The Florida ABC Book, features Alex's photography in conjunction with the alphabet. His second book, Historic Tarpon Springs: A Photographic Journey, depicts the different sites and buildings that made a difference in the history of Tarpon Springs. Then he wrote A Photographic Journey: Natural Beauty of Florida depicts different landscapes, birds, and flowers captured by Alex. His fourth, and most recently released, book is Historic Palm Harbor: A Photographic Journey, which depicts the different sites and buildings that made a difference in the history of Palm Harbor, Crystal Beach, Ozona and East Lake. All of Alex's books are available locally and on Amazon.com for purchase. He is currently working on his upcoming books, which will include Historic Pinellas County: A Photographic Journey and Historic Dunedin: A Photographic Journey. Alex is also very active in the local community, giving presentations about local history and producing Life History videos.
Alex said, “I want to make a difference in people’s lives and I want people’s legacy to be remembered, as well as the history of this area, because if you don’t preserve your history or your area’s history it will be lost forever.”
”We are actively seeking anyone interested in sharing photos, any historic recordings of local musicians, artifacts, memorabilia, and stories of historic Palm Harbor Ozona, East Lake, Crystal Beach, and Indian Bluff Island for our documentary film.

If interested, please email us at historicpalmharbor@gmail.com. Please share with anyone that might be interested in contributing any of the above. Thank you so much for your support!
