Truck Hits, Kills Man Crossing U.S. 19

A Palm Harbor man was hit and killed while trying to cross U.S. 19 early Tuesday afternoon. 

Patrick John Vawter-Beaird age 22, was crossing to the west side of U.S. 19 from the median when he was hit by a box truck traveling southbound, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. It happened at 1:19 p.m. near Pine Ridge Way South, which is north of Nebraska Ave.

The 2000 Isuzu truck was driven by Mirsad Rahimic, 28, of St. Petersburg. Rahimic and his passenger, Sakib Rahimic were not injured. Both were wearing seatbelts.

Vawter-Beaird was airlifted to Bayfront Medical Center in St. Petersburg, where he died.

The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating the incident.
