Widow Wants to Thank Good Samaritans

The widow of a man who was hit and killed by a garbage truck in the Highland Lakes community last month is hoping to reconnect with two women who stopped to help her shortly after the accident.

James Algeri age 65, was killed the morning of April 18, when he walked into the path of a Solar Sanitation garbage truck, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. Algeri and his wife, Mary lived in Palm Harbor for part of the year and in Massachusetts the rest of the year. James Algeri was a retired firefighter who had worked at E-1 Waverly Station in Belmont, Ma. 

Mary LaPierre, a longtime friend of the Algeri family, says two women stopped to help Mary Algeri shortly after the accident. Mary LaPierre wrote to Palm Harbor Patch asking if we can help find the two good samaritans. 

Here's what she wrote-

"I am writing on behalf of my oldest and dearest friend, Mary Algeri, whose husband was killed 2 weeks ago ago on Glenmore Court.   I have been friends with Mary and Jimmy for over 40 years and feel the terrible loss of a good friend.    

Even though Mary was grief sticken and in shock from this tragic loss, she kept wishing she could thank the two wonderful ladies who stopped to help her. These two good samaritans offered consolation in a time of chaos, the voice of reason in a situation so unreasonable,  and kept her sane in a time of insanity.  

She didn't get their names but how could she have at such a time? She would have liked to thank them personally but since she has since left Florida to take her husband home, I thought you could publish her gratitude in your paper in hopes they will see it."
