Remaining cameras will be bagged and shut off while the city weighs contract costs, legal questions over school-zone locations, and whether residents still want this level of police technology in their neighborhoods.

Panama City moves toward one-year moratorium on data centers (mypanhandle.com) β Panama City leaders are considering a one-year pause on new data centers while they update zoning and land-use rules for this emerging industry. After the first public hearing on Ordinance 3313, commissioners said the moratorium would let staff study impacts on water, power, and neighborhoods, even though no data center projects are currently proposed.

Panama City hires new clerk-treasurer (mypanhandle.com) β Panama City commissioners have officially hired Leslie Glaze as the city's new clerk-treasurer, with a $145,000 salary and performance-based bonus opportunity. Starting September 21, she'll tackle a 100-day plan that includes finishing the 2025 audit, rebuilding reserves, fixing utility billing, and organizing grant data to strengthen the city's finances and services.

Steven Curtis Chapman's 'Music Of Christmas Tour' Returns In November (musicrow.com) β Steven Curtis Chapman is bringing his "Music of Christmas Tour" to Hiland Park Baptist Church in Panama City on Saturday, Dec. 5, offering a full-choir, string-backed celebration of his classic holiday album. The 11-city tour marks the record's 30th anniversary, giving local fans a chance to make the concert part of their own Christmas traditions without leaving town.
